DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Tahoe Maritime Center: Museum & Gardens (TMC) seeks an experienced, creative professional for the position of Development Director. The Development Director is responsible for the oversight and implementation of a broad range of fundraising activities for the museum, and reports to the Executive Director. The Development Director will help steward existing donor relationships, as well as build new ones with community members and corporations. S/he will carry out the existing fundraising efforts, which include membership, annual giving, planned giving, grants, and special campaigns. This position requires the ability to collaborate closely with the other members of the museum staff, board, and volunteers, and interact effectively with community members and the general public.

Responsibilities include:

  • Sustain and grow relationships with existing supporters from individuals to foundations.
  • Build new relationships with corporate and private foundations.
  • Help secure funding through grants.
  • Research new funding sources and trends.
  • Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns to attract the maximum gift support.
  • Develop and administer the development office budget.
  • Represent the museum at onsite and offsite events, working occasional evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate will be well organized and creative, and have demonstrated prior success soliciting and securing philanthropic gifts from individuals and corporations. He or she should have expert knowledge of and experience with development and fundraising techniques for non-profits, including prospect identification research, evaluation of historic gift data, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and donor stewardship. A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred. This position is full-time year-round; salary commensurate with experience, with a range of $45,000-55,000; benefits include health insurance, holidays, and PTO.
